SAMARA MARINELLI

Samara Marinelli is a vibrant music educator and performer who moved to Canberra in early 2023. While she’s no longer teaching privately in Brisbane, she still travels between the two cities and is always up for workshops, adjudicating gigs, and performances across Australia—especially if there’s good coffee involved.

 

Samara has been teaching since 2007, back when she was a viola student at the University of Queensland. Since then, she’s expanded her work to include singing, conducting, and teaching across a broad range of educational settings. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Viola from the University of Queensland, an Associate Diploma in Music (Classical Singing) from the Australian Music Examinations Board, and is currently deep-diving into a Master of Music Studies in Vocal Pedagogy at Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University. (She loves learning almost as much as she loves chocolate.)

 

She’s a proud member of ANATS and AUSTA, and is constantly refining her teaching practice to help students grow in confidence, skill, and joy. Whether working with beginners or experienced musicians, Samara brings clarity, energy, and humour into every lesson or rehearsal.

In addition to her private studio work, Samara has taught in a wide range of schools and music programs—including the Australian Girls Choir, Queensland Show Choir, and schools such as All Hallows’ School, Ipswich Grammar School, Marist College Ashgrove, Hillcrest Christian College, and more. She’s directed choirs, led string ensembles, coached soloists, and supported countless musicians of all ages in finding their voice (and their sparkle).

 

Now based in Canberra, Samara teaches Violin, Viola, and Singing at Canberra Grammar School and Radford College, where she also directs choirs and string ensembles. She holds current Working With Children and Vulnerable People checks in both ACT and QLD, plus a COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate—all available on request.
